ROYSE CITY — Sulphur Springs had four athletes advance to regional following area track action Thursday at Royse City.
“It was very cold and windy, but we had Willy Ivery and Zach Spigner advance for the boys,” said Matt Young, track coach.
Ivery took first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 39.8, he also was second in the long jump with a 21-1 leap. Spigner, with a time of 15.28 in the 110-hurdles, took fourth.
Sulphur Springs had two girls advance from area. Destiny Wade was third in the discus at 101 feet, nine inches. Madeline Massey was fourth in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:37.77.
Also competing for Sulphur Springs but not advancing were; LaBrandis Adams, Desi Debase, Chrissalynd Person, Brianna Ivery, Chaliyah Moore, Tia Berry, Brennan Brock, Landon Brock, Tim Monk, Dearius Lacy, Isaiah Lacy, Dekeistan Mosley, Matthew Brice and Dedric Smith.
Texas High won both divisions at the area meet. The Wildcats took ninth place with 30 points and Lady Cats scored 15 points. A total of 14 schools participated Thursday in the meet.
The top four competitors advance to regional in Arlington at UTA, April 26-27.
