SS athletes in area track meet

    Sulphur Springs will have several athletes in action Thursday at the 13-4A and 14-4A Area Track Meet set for Royse City.
    Events will take place at the Royse City track complex.

    Competing for the boys will be - Willy Ivery, long jump, 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay, 300-meter hurdles; Zach Spigner, 110-hurdles; Brennan Brock, Landon Brock, 4x100 relay; Tim Monk, 4x400 relay; Dearius Lacy, 110-hurdles; Dedric Smith, Matthew Brice, Dekeistan Mosley, 4x400 relay.
    “I am looking foreward to seeing Willy in the long jump and the 300-hurdles,” said Matt Young, Sulphur Springs track coach. “Zach is running well in the 110-hurdles. The 4x100 relay has a chance of running in the top four at the area meet.”
    Competitors for the Lady Cats include - Chaliyah Moore, shot; Destiny Wade, discus;  Madeline Massey, 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs;
 Chrissalynd Person, pole vault, 400-meter run; Tia Berry, Labrandis Adams, Brianna Ivery, Desi Debase 4x200 relay and Labrandis Adams, 400-meter run.
     “I think all of these young ladies have the ability to get out of area,” said Triston Abron, Sulphur Springs track coach.
    Schedule of events includes field events starting at 10 a.m. with the shot put, followed by the discus, long jump, triple jump, pole vault and high jump. The field events end at 1:45 p.m.
    The 3,200 meters final also starts at 10 a.m. for varsity girls, followed by varsity boys immediately afterwards.
    The running events begin at 4 p.m. with the 4x100 relay. They also include the 800-meter run, 100-meter hurdles, 110-hurdles, 100-meter dash, 4x200 relay, 400-meter run, 300-hurdles, 200-meter run, 1,600-meter run and close out with the 4x400-meter relay.
    The top four finishers in each individual race will advance to regional.
