Sulphur Bluff
downs Cumby
Sulphur Bluff took a 4-1 win over Cumby in district baseball action.
Blake Brown was the winning pitcher for the Bears with seven strikeouts.
Justin Goldsmith and Collin Williams each had one hit, one RBI in the game. Erin Zeringue had one hit, two walks. Landon Dorner was 1 for 3 in the win.
“Our boys did a great job rebounding from our 3-1 loss to Miller Grove last night,” said Sulphur Bluff coach Blake Hill. “Brown has stepped up in big situations and did a great job leading this team to another win.  Both pitchers hit their spots and just like last time we played Cumby it came down to the wire. Coach Mabe has a really good group of boys. In the end our boys played good defense and played seven full innings of baseball.”
The coach added, “District 17-A has 5 teams battling for the 3 playoff spots, and they are all playing good baseball. The next few weeks are going to be very interesting.”
