Sulphur Springs is in for a double challenge tonight.
Not only do they have to take on the highly ranked Frisco Liberty at 7:30 p.m. in the area soccer playoffs. They have to do it on the Red Hawks home turf.
Sulphur Springs is 18-3-5 coming off an impressive 2-1 win in bi-district play against Carrollton Creekview.
Frisco Liberty is 20-3-1. The Red Hawks hammered Denison 9-0 in bi-district play earlier this week.
The Wildcats are still not a 100 percent healthwise and will play tonight with several players on the roster not at full speed.
“Tony Bravo is not 100 percent, but he is better. Tanner Ramirez, Sam Gallegos and Erick Robles are banged up,” admitted Andy Holt, Wildcats head soccer coach.
“We will need to play a really good game tonight because Liberty is a good, skilled team,” Holt said. “They have good speed and two really quick forwards. Our plan is play tough defense, try to limit them to one goal or less. Then we can get our guys free for a shot. Our defense has been playing well. We’ve had a great season. Each step in the playoffs gets tougher. We don’t want to stop playing.”
