FRISCO — The C.H.E.S.S. Knights competed in the recent Texas State Homeschool Basketball Tournament winning in the 4A Division championship.
The Knights beat the Victoria Cobras, 64-44; then downed the BVCHEA Mustangs, 54-47 and won in the final of the THESA Ryders of Fort Worth, 44-34.
“The team played the best man defense and most disciplined offense that I have seen them play all year. We lost in the 4A final last year, and therefore the determination to get back and do things differently was evident, especially with the four seniors,” said Donnie South, C.H.E.S.S. head coach. “All of the boys played with composure and heart which isn't drawn up in any playbook. I have been blessed as a coach with a great group of young men who have taught me more about the game than I could have ever imagined. To see these guys succeed in the game of basketball has been fun to be a part of, but to watch them become leaders and positive role models has been one of the highlights of my life.”
The team will now advance to the National Homeschool Championships in Springfield, Mo. on March 18-23.
The team is looking for sponsors and are hosting a 3 on 3 tournament to raise funds for the trip.
