Red Oak downs Lady Cats, 5-2

    MCKINNEY — Strong pitching by Red Oak held Sulphur Springs hitless as the Lady Cats fell by 5-2 in Saturday action in the McKinney Tournament.

    The Lady Cats managed lone runs in the second and third innings, but no hits. Red Oak made two errors and walked six in the game. The Lady Cats were struck out nine times.
    Meagan McCullough and Kaylee Anderson had the runs scored for the Lady Cats.
    Sarah Womack was the losing pitcher for Sulphur Springs. She faced 27 batters, allowing five runs, all earned, off six hits with no strikeouts and walking three. Womack threw 107 pitches, 57 for strikes.
    The Lady Cats fell to 7-7 for the season.
    The varsity and JV will play Tuesday at Princeton starting at 5 p.m.
    The varsity Lady Cats play Thursday through Saturday in the Lindale Tournament. Game times will be announced later.
