SACHSE — There’s nothing like a 12-hit attack to make you feel good about a team.
The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats got hits from eight different batters as they won 8-1 over Sachse in non-district girls softball action Saturday.
Sulphur Springs scored at least one run in five of the seven innings played.
Hailey Dixon had a stellar game all the way around. The senior pitch was dominating in the circle. She faced 28 batters, striking out 12, allowing one run in seven innings of work off five hits, while walking a pair. She threw 108 pitches, 69 strikes. At the dish, Dixon had three hits including a double and plated three runs.
Other top hitters include Megan McCullough and Sydney Womack with two hits each, Mykayla Glosson and Maci McGlamery each had one hit and one run batted in. Jaleigh Avery, Kiara Johnson and Kaylee Anderson added one hit each. Kelsie Adams and Toni Cody also knocked in runs.
Sulphur Springs struck for a run in the first inning to take the early lead. The only run Dixon allowed came in the bottom of the fourth.
The Lady Cats struck for two runs in the top of the fourth, three more in the fifth and single runs in the sixth and seventh frame.
Sachse managed just five hits on the day and made one error.
The Lady Cats played error free softball.
“It was a good win for us. We hit the ball better than we did against Prosper. Hailey had a great day at the plate as well as in the circle. We just need to get good quality at-bats and continue to improve on Saturday's performance,” said David Carrillo, Lady Cats head varsity softball coach.
Today, North Hopkins takes on the Sulphur Springs JV white team at SSHS softball diamond at 4 p.m. only one game will be played.
On Tuesday, the Sulphur Springs (V/JV) plays at North Lamar with action starting at 5 p.m.
The varsity Lady Cats play in the Prosper Tournament Thursday through Saturday.
Games begins at 5 p.m. Thursday against Prosper, the host team. The Lady Cats take on Denison at 7 p.m. as they play back-to-back games.
