Ivery picked for FCA grid game

Speed leads to scoring touchdowns and it gets you noticed.

Buddy Ivery, Sulphur Springs 5-9, 190-pound speedy running back, was recently chosen for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Heart of a Champion football game June 15 at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium in Tyler.
“For Buddy Ivery this is a great honor to be selected among the best in East Texas. He will do a great job of representing Sulphur Springs,” said Greg Owens, Sulphur Springs head football coach and athletic director. “It will be a great experience for him playing along side they guys he has been competing against the past few years.”
Robert Barbin, Tyler/Longview FCA reppresentative said, “I am excited and pleased that the Heart of a Champion Bowl continues to expand throughout the Northeast Texas area. This year, we have between 60-65 high schools represented in the game. Last year, we had 50. I believe it speaks to the type of quality event this has become for the Tyler / Longview and surrounding areas. The fact that, through the talent of the players, cheerleaders and coaches of Northeast Texas, we get the opportunity to honor God in all we do and to share the story of the ministry of Fellowship of Christian Athletes on Middle School, High School and College campuses in our area. We have close to 40 of these players who will be going on to play football at the next level. For the rest, it will be one more opportunity to put on the pads, jersey and helmet in order to play the game they love. June 15 at TMF Rose Stadium can’t get here quick enough.”
