SSMS girls win 7th grade hoop title

    Sulphur Springs took three playoff wins to take first place in girls seventh grade district basketball.
    In the championship game, Lady Cats defeated Pine Tree 30-18.

    Kaylee Jefferson led the team with 18 points, Macee Hollins and Jamia Hall both had 4 points, Imani Taylor and Karlee Adams both had 2 points. Anden Hammack had 4 assists and 3 rebounds, Meike VanBenthem with 3 rebounds. Alyssa Abron led the team with 4 steals.
    In the first game, Lady Cats defeated Texas Middle School with a comeback in the fourth quarter 31-27.  Jefferson led the team in points with 17, Hollins had 6 points,  Hall with 4 points and  Adams and Laila King each scored 2 points. Hammack led the team with 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Abron and Taylor both led the teams in steals.
     In the second game, the Lady Cats defeated Mount Pleasant 25-8.
    Jefferson led the team in points with 17, Hollins scored 3 points, Adams and  King both with 2 points, and Imani Taylor with 1 point.  Mieke VanBenthem had 7 rebounds and Hammack with 6 rebounds.  Hollins led the team with 8 assists. Abron had 5 steals and Jamia Hall with 4 blocks.
     The team is coached by Mary Wilson and Josh Neill.
