Now that storms and inclement weather have blown through the area, Sulphur Springs will take to the softball diamond.
The Sulphur Springs squad be in scrimmage action today in Prosper. The junior varsity and varsity will be participating starting at 5:30 p.m.
The Lady Cats have been working out on the field and were forced indoors during recent cold and wet conditions.
Sulphur Springs is coming off a playoff season where they lost in the bi-district round to Nacogdoches.
The Lady Cats have eight players back from the 16-15-1 playoff team.
Returning players who earned all district honors include - Toni Cody, who was voted Catcher of the Year in district; Jaleigh Avery, Katie Sapaugh, infield; Meagan McCullough, Kiara Johnson, outfield; Kaylee Anderson and Hailey Dixon, pitchers and designated player, Maci McClamery.
“The team is looking good,” said David Carrillo, head softball coach. “We are always evaluating and trying to put players in the best places to be successful.”
Carrillo said no lineup is set yet, but did not expect much turnover due to the large number of returning players.
“I feel like we have a lot of good young talent,” Carrillo said. “These scrimmages are very imporant. I know the girls are ready to get started.”
