Yantis wins;
have special
game tonight
    The Yantis Owls took a 42-40 win over Fruitvale.

    Mark Carrasco had 13 points, including four 3-pointers for top scoring honors for the Owls. Kendall Glenn had 11 and Jesus Sandoval added 10 points.
    Yantis is 12-13 overall, 3-2 in district.
    They will play Miller Grove today with the girls game starting at 6 p.m. to be followed by the boys.
    Coach Chris Hightower said the game tonight will be used as a fundraiser called “Hoops for Dominic” to raise money  for a player’s younger brother who has been diagnosed with neuroblastoma.

win Boles
powerlifting meet titles
    QUINLAN — The Cumby Trojans and Lady Trojans won the Boles Powerlifting Meet on Jan. 26.
    Cumby won the girls team title with 50 points.
    Individual winners were - first place, Taylor Gifford, Gabriella Aguilar, Kayla Akers, Brianna Stone and Breanna Gay; second, Graci Nance, Bailey Braddock and Taylor Petty.
    The boys team scored 33 points to take first place.
    Taking first were - Brandon Jones, Cody Anderson and Jamie Evans; second, Jack Jones and Glen Goode; fourth, Taylor Libby.
North Hopkins
downs Avery
    Tarence Berry had 12 points and Blake Adams added 10 as North Hopkins won 55-45 over Avery.
    The Panthers went to 6-2 in district with the win.

Miller Grove
wins, 65-32
    The Miller Grove Hornets exploded for 24 points in the first quarter, taking a lead they would not surrender as they drubbed Campbell, 65-32 in boys district basketball action.
    Patrick Covington was a force in the middle turning in a double-double. Covington had 27 points, 11 rebounds and blocked 7 shots in the big win.
    Ryan Dougan scorched the nets from the outside with 20 points including 6 buckets from 3-point land.
