Sulphur Springs takes seventh in powerlifting

    The hometown Wildcats took seventh place with 13 points in the Sulphur Springs Powerlifting Meet held in the multi-purpose building at the high school.
    Lindale had 26 points for first place, edging out Emory Rains with 25 and Denison took third with 24 points. 

    Wildcat lifters and results are as follows:
    Jesse Ortiz, the No. 1 lifter in his region in the 114-pound class was first with a squat of 330, bench press of 165 and dead lift of 340 for a total of 835 pounds.
    Dakota Patton took third in the 123-pound class, he had a squat of 295, bench press of 155, dead lift of 315 for a 765 total. He is second in the region in his division.
    Luis Gamez finished fourth in the 132-pound division. He had a 325 squat, a bench press of 220 and dead lift of 360 for a 905 total. Gamez is fourth in the region.
    Scott Galarza was eighth place in the 132-pound class. He had 255 squat, bench pressed 145 with a dead lift of 300 for a 700 pound total. He is 12th in the region in his division.
    Alex Gamez took ninth in the 165-pound division with a squat of 350, bench press of 160 and dead lift of 345 for a total of 855. He is 26th in the region.
    Dedrick Smith competed in the 181-pound class, taking fifth place. He had a squat of 440, bench press of 270 and dead lift of 480 for a 1,190 total. He is currently third in the region for his weight class.
    Draylon Porter, took fourth in the 198-pound division. He had a squat of 315, bench press of 195 and dead lifted 375 for total of 885. He is 27th in the region.
   Brandon Foster was 19th in the 198-division. He had a 315 squat, bench pressed 215 and dead lift of 290 for an 820 total. He is 30th in the region.
  Seth Harred was 10th in the 242-pound class. He had a squat of 400, bench press of 270, dead lift of 395 for a 1,065 total. He is 41st in the region.
   Layton Pace was 22nd in the 242-pound class with a squat of 290, bench press of 170, dead lift of 300 for a 760 total. He is 41st in the region.
    Heath Howard took sixth in the 275-pound class. He squatted 405 with a bench press of 325 and dead lift of 445 for a 1,175 total. He is ninth in the region.
    Landon Watkins was eighth in the 275-pound division. He had a squat of 405, bench press of 325, dead lift of 420 for a total of 1,140 pounds. He is 13th in the region.
    Also competing for the Wildcatsbut not placing were - Miguel Mejia in the 165-pound class and Levi Williams in the 275-pound division.
