Several basketball games were played in the area recently with the following results posted by coaches.
Cumby 63,
Boles 20
QUILAN — Kayla Akers had 22 points and 7 rebounds leading the Cumby Lady Trojans to a 63-20 win Friday in district play.
Candice Horrocks scored 16 points and 9 boards. Breanna Gay had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Other Cumby standouts include: Alex Duck 8 points, 3 rebounds; Grace Campbell 6 points, 1 rebound; Viviana Ugalde, Mackenzie Fyke 6 rebounds each and Victoria Valentine had 1 rebound.
Cumby is 5-6 and will host Wolfe City Tuesday night.
Como-Pickton 47,
Alba-Golden 38
ALBA — Ryan Humphrey had 13 points and Corbin Flora tossed in 11 as Como-Pickton took a 47-38 win over Alba-Golden on the road Friday.
Coach Roy Moody thanked the loyal Eagle fans for driving over and supporting the team.
“Our fans gave us a spark, Alba is usually a tough place to win,” Moody said.
The Eagles took the lead with a strong first half. Como-Pickton went up nine points and made the margin hold up. Each team scored 24 points in the second half.

Sulphur Bluff 11
SULPHUR BLUFF — Victoria Stretcher scored 13 points and Kendall Bain added 12 as the No. 1-ranked Saltillo Lady Lions downed Sulphur Bluff, 62-11.
The relentless Lady Lions defense held the Lady Bears to just two first half point as they rolled ahead early.
Top scorer for Sulphur Bluff was Kaitlyn Hancock with 5 points.

Sulphur Bluff 45
Tyler Davison and Nick Boekhorst combined for 48 points as No. 12-state ranked Saltillo rolled to a 69-45 win.
Davison scored 28, Boekhorst added 10 and Tucker Johnson added 13 as the three Lions scored in double figures.
Blake Brown had 19 points for the Bears.
The Lions are 22-7 on the year, 6-0 in district.

Avery 44,
North Hopkins 38
BIRTHRIGHT —The North Hopkins Lady Panthers held a lead over undefeated Avery until the game's final minute before falling 44-38.
The Lady Panthers held a 17-4 first quarter lead, but Avery's press in the second period brought them back to within one point at 23-22 in favor of North Hopkins.
The Lady Panthers took a 34-27 lead into the final eight minutes but could not hold off Avery who moved to 9-0 with the win.
"I am very proud of my girls. They played a great game on both ends of the floor," Coach Larry Tucker said. Macy (Griner) and Chelsey Crouch each had a great game and Baile (Gammill) was everywhere on defense."
Griner and Crouch each had 10 points while Gammill hit for eight. Griner added nine rebounds Crouch had eight rebounds. The Lady Panthers fall to 2-8 in district and will play at Detroit next Tuesday. The Lady Panthers will finish the season with Senior Night at home against McLeod.
Hallsville 38,
SSMS Blue 18
The Sulphur Springs eighth grade Lady Cats “blue” team lost 38-18 to Hallsville in recent action.
Hallsville physical play created problems and turnovers according to coach Chuck Eoff.
Standouts for Sulphur Springs include: Daiesysha Pruitt 9, Tori Moore 5, Jaye Doughtie 3 and Sharitta Hill had 1 point.
Eoff said Carrington Chancellor had four steals on defense while Hill added 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot.
