The Sulphur Springs teams will try to regroup for games today against Hallsville foes.
The Wildcats and Lady Cats both took tough losses against Texas High squads in Wednesday 14-4A play.
The Wildcats lost at home 56-49 in a game they could have easily won. But late free throw misses and turnovers allowed the taller Tigers to rally late to claim the win.
Andra Smith and Isaiah Lacy had 11 points each for top Wildcat scoring honors.
Sulphur Springs will now face a Hallsville team on the road while lost 50-44 against Pine Tree.
The Bobcats got 24 points from Nolan Faires and 10 by Cody Blankenship.
Both the Wildcats and Bobcats are winless in district play with 0-2 marks after two games.
The Wildcats play at Hallsville with three games set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
The Lady Cats will host Hallsville at the SSHS gym. The junior varsity game is slated for 5;30 p.m. and the varsity matchup at 7 p.m.
Hallsville is 1-3 in district play, coming off a 39-33 loss to Pine Tree. In that game, Sky Holmes scored 15 points and McKayla Baylor added 11 for Pine Tree. Hallsville got 9 points from Rainey Mixon and Nathalia Lomax added 8 points. Junesha Williams had seven rebounds.
Sulphur Springs was defeated at Texas High, 81-59.
Desi Debase had eight 3-pointers in a losing cause. Destiny Wade had double figures in scoring and rebounds. Shakoja Debase added 15 points.
The Lady Cats are 2-2 in district play having lost to Texas High and Mount Pleasant.
Sulphur Springs started district play with wins over Pine Tree and Marshall.
