    Scores were reported from recent teams from basketball action in the area.

Cumby 54,


Detroit 41
    The Cumby Lady Trojans took a 54-41 win Tuesday over Detroit in girls basketball non-district action.
    Kayla Akers had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Breanna Gay had high point with 25, she also had 9 rebounds.

Cumby 34
    The Trojans fell behind early and could not recover, losing to Detroit.
    Cumby had a slow night scoring with Cody Anderson and Luke Sartin topping the ledger with 8 points each.

Fannindel 49
    Two players had double-doubles as Sulphur Bluff took a 67-49 win over Fannindel in boys non-district basketball.
    Landon Dorner had 20 points, 10 rebounds while teammate Justin Goldsmith  recorded 15 points, 10 boards in the big win.

    Kaci Powers had 15 points and Cheyenne Bryant added 13 as the Lady Bears rolled over Fannindel, 43-25 in recent girls basketball play.
    Sulphur Bluff had a 24-9 lead at the half and cruised to the win.

North Hopkins 44
    Kevin Meza and Tarence Berry combined for 26 points, but the Panthers lost 70-44 in boys basketball action against Martin’s Mill.
    The Panthers fell behind early, trailing 45-23 at the half.
    Martin’s Mill hit 13 of 26 3-pointers in the game.

Saltillo 48,
Winnsboro 41
    WINNSBORO — It was a balanced attack which proved the difference.
    Three players scored 10 or more points to lead the No. 20-state ranked Saltillo Lions to a 48-41 win on the road over Winnsboro in boys basketball action.
    Tyler Davison had 15 points, Nick Boekhorst tossed in 14 and Clayton Jones contributed 10 in the win over the Lions.
    The teams were tied early, but Saltillo put together a 21-12 scoring run in the third period to spark the victory.
    "Any time you can win on the road, it is a good win. We caught Winnsboro just off the football field, once they get gym time, they will be a very good team,” said Bill Giles, Saltillo head boys basketball coach. “Their size and aggressive play made us work and made us a better team."

Winnsboro 47,
Saltillo 37
    WINNSBORO — The No. 2-state ranked Saltillo Lady Lions had a cold second half shooting and lost 47-37 to No. 7 Winnsboro.
    Victoria Stretcher had 13 points for Saltillo as the top scorer.
    “We went cold, but you have to give Winnsboro’s defense a lot of credit. They challenged us on  every piece of the floor,” said Garry Davison, Saltillo head girls basketball coach. “I believe we cut the lead to four or five points in the fourth. Then Winnsboro pulled it out and made us chase them. They made their free throws to ice the game away.”

Union Grove 46, Miller Grove 43
    Patrick Covington had 26 points and 20 rebounds for a double-double for Miller Grove, but the Hornets lost 46-43 to Union Grove.
    “We struggled with the little things and it frustrates us. I need to do a better job of preparing our kids and making sure they know what we are looking for,” said Gary Billingsley, Miller Grove head boys coach.

    Alba-Golden jumped out to a lead in the first quarter and took an advantage they would not surrender.
    Mark Carrasco had 18 points, including five 3-pointers for Yantis in a losing cause. Brandon Simpson added a dozen points.
