Sulphur Springs gets back into action Saturday as they face Whitewright in road non-district boys basketball play.
The game with Wrightwright is a rare day contest. The junior varsity game starts at 11 a.m. followed by the varsity at 12:30 p.m.
Sulphur Springs is coming off a 52-28 loss in their home basketball opener played against Lindale. In that game Reid Burns had 12 points with Connor Cooper at 10 points as the only players in double digits.
“We executed our stuff very well against Lindale. We just need to be more aggressive and finish our possessions with either points or at the free throw line,” said Jeremy Josey, Wildcats head basketball coach. “Defensively, I was pleased with our overall effort, considering our style is something completely different to what these young men have been asked to do their entire high school basketball career. Communication is still an emphasis and has been every day for us. We need more communication on the floor. Then we will be more in sync on both ends of the court.”
Josey said, “We must finish at the rim when the opportunity presents itself. Our plan doesn't really change from week to week, we simply must take what we have and improve upon that.”
Sulphur Springs will play at home Monday at the high school gym against Tyler Grace. The junior varsity game is at 6 p.m. and the varsity game at 7:30 p.m. The Nov. 27 games against Wills Point has been moved to the middle school due to repair of the SSHS gym.
