The Wildcats and Lady Cats will both be in non-district basketball action tonight.

The Lady Cats will  play in Paris against North Lamar. Sulphur Springs, 1-0, will begin play with the freshmen at 4:30 p.m. the junior varsity will follow at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity at 7 p.m.
Sulphur Springs won their season opening game 51-34 over Mount Pleasant. Desi Debase had 22 points, 12 steals in the win.

The Sulphur Springs Wildcats are coming off scrimmage play and face Lindale today at home. Three games are scheduled, beginning with the freshmen at 5 p.m. The JV will follow at 6:15 and the varsity at 7:30 p.m.
Sulphur Springs will be led by head coach Jeremy Josey, who is coaching his first varsity game for the Wildcats. Josey replaces Braughn Curtis  at the helm of the program.
Sulphur Springs is beginning the season somewhat short-handed with several players who will contribute to the basketball season  still involved in football.
The Wildcats have two returning lettermen who will play today as they suit up seven players against Lindale.

Josey said he is concerned about his team’s overall size and lack of depth as the season begins.
The coach said, “We went to improve each week as we progress through our preseason schedule. Lindale will have a full squad, they are a solid program having made playoff runs the last three years. They will be a test, they are a team which was successful at 3A, making the jump to 4A basketball. We will be emphasizing playing hard and keeping it simple.”
Probable starters for the Wildcats are - Austin Buck, Reid Burns, Connor Cooper, Darian Dial and Mel Persons.
