The Sulphur Springs Wildcat soccer team lost Tuesday to Pine Tree by a 3-0 score.“Pine Tree is a very good team. They did a good job of finishing. We played hard, but we couldn't get anything going” said SSHS head boys soccer coach Andy Holt.
Johnathon Flores and Cody Langley each scored first-half goals to put PT up early. Eduardo Solis scored on a cross from Tyler Humphrey in the second half to give the Pirates (12-2-1) their three-goal win.
Roberto Rios got the shutout in goal, while David Fincher, Ricardo Bocanegra, Breynon Henderson and Steven Scibona led the defensive effort. Pine Tree gained a 9-5 edge in shots on goal.
The Sulphur Springs JV lost 2-1 to Pine Tree.
“We have Mount Pleasant on Friday on the road. It Should be a great rivalry game,” Holt added.
beat Royse City
Bonnie Grafton had three goals and one assist as the Lady Cats took a Tuesday night road win in Royse City, 5-2.
Grafton’s first goal came at the six minute in the first half from a Karlie Junot assist. Moments later
Junot second up Kirsten McMillan for a goal at the 15th minute in the first.
In the second half, Juana Perez scored from a Grafton assist at the sixth minute. Grafton closed out the game with two unassists goals.
Lady Cats (5-5-2) will face Pleasant Grove Friday, 6 p.m. at Gerald Prim.
They open district Monday at Greenville, JV at 5:30 p.m. followed by varsity at 7 p.m.
