Neal leads Cumby to win
CUMBY — The Cumby Lady Trojans saw Savannah Neal pump in 20 as they took a 60-39 home court win.It was all about keeping it all even, even numbers that is. Neal scored an even 20 points against the Lady Bobcats along with an even split of eight on assists and steals and took down two from the boards. Racking up other double figures in round ball action were Courtney Steward and Brittany Seely evenly splitting 28 of the Cumby points and Laura Oviedo netted 10.
Cumby jumped ahead of their opponent in the first, but the two teams evened it up with a point total of 10-all before the break buzzer. Fruitvale tried to recover in the third outscoring the Lady Trojans by only one. But Cumby had the game won by the fourth with a tilt of 60-39.
The victory moves the Lady Trojans to a positive 7-3 district record with 23-4 overall for season. They travel to North Hopkins Tuesday beginning at 4:30 with junior varsity.

Lady Owls defeat
YANTIS — Yantis Lady Owl Amanda Collins cleared the path to a 48-38 win over the North Hopkins Lady Panther with her scoring total of 17 (nine rebounds, three steals, one block).
Top double-digit scorers for Yantis were Stephanie Hogg with 13 and Amanda McKinney with 10. Lady Owl Shelby Allen snagged five steals and McKinney got four.
After Hogg swished a trey to start the scoring, the two teams were tied nine-all in the first. In the second, Yantis took a five point lead with a 3-pointer from Collins and Allen.
The Lady Panthers were led by the scoring power of Chrissy Hall and her 18 points. Hall hit two 3-pointers for a rally in the second half. North Hopkins came up shy of the win by 10 points.
Yantis has an open date Tuesday and will trek to Cumby on Friday at 4:30 p.m. North Hopkins will use home court advantage while taking on Cumby Tuesday and will take on No. 11 Martin's Mill Friday.
NOTE: Friday's game at Yantis was also the Coaches vs. Cancer game. The school raised over $450 for the cause. These donations will serve a local cause. The team's manager/filmer, Victor Reyna has been diagnosed with stage 5 Lupus and is in the Children's Hospital in Dallas. His family will be the receipant of the donations according to Yantis Owls head coach Jack Bowles.
