The Hornets won Game 1, by a 7-6 score over McLeod.
In the Saturday contest -Patrick Covington went 3 for 3 with two doubles a triple, two runs scored, one batted in and stolen base. Colten Bayless went 2 for 2 with one RBI and a stolen base; Quinten Stovall went 2 for 4, one RBI, two runs, three stolen bases.
Covington was the winning pitcher with a complete game effort, striking out seven in seven innings, allowing six hits, two walks with no earned runs.
“Patrick pitched a great game for us. He was able to get ahead in the count. I am very proud of this team,” said Gary Billingsley, head baseball coach. “We have won six games in a row.”
Miller Grove (12-4) plays No. 7 ranked Carlisle (17-2) in a Class 1A area best-of-three series in Van. Game 1 is Thursday at 7 p.m., Game 2, Friday, 7 p.m. Game 3, if needed, will at 1 p.m. Saturday.
