Saltillo, Yantis in playoffs

Saltillo and Yantis will be in postseason Class 1A regional basketball playoff action tonight in Tyler.
Saltillo, 25-8, ranked No. 16 in the state will take on No. 4 Douglass (29-3) in the regional Class 1A, Div. II quarterfinal playoffs today, at the UT-Tyler gym, 6:30 p.m.
The Yantis Owls will be in the UIL Class 1A regional quarterfinals today at Tyler Junior College.
The Owls meet state-ranked Cayuga at 7 p.m. at Wagstaff Gymnasium. Yantis, 22-10, will be the home team.
Cayuga is 31-4 for the season.

Neches downs Saltillo, 44-39 in playoffs

TYLER –Wagstaff Gymnasium has become Heartbreak City for the Saltillo Lady Lions the last couple of years. Unfortunately that’s the only road to Austin.
For the third consecutive season, the Lady Lions’ season ended at the hands of the Neches Lady Tigers in the Class A, Division II playoffs. For the second consecutive year, it happened at Wagstaff Gymnasium in the Region III championship game.


Lady Cats pound Prosper, 21-4

PROSPER — After struggling through the first five games of the Prosper Varsity Softball Tournament, the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats were determined to get a win in the sixth and final game Saturday night.

Wildcat baseball teams split tournament games

In varsity action, the Wildcats remained winless for the year, losing 3-2 to Forney in the final day of the Rose City Classic in Tyler.
