SS teams, T. High clash tonight

Sulphur Springs squads will be making the 100-mile trek (one way) to Texarkana for District 13-4A games for the Lady Cats and Wildcats.
Games between the two schools in recent years have been very important and crucial in determined the district champions in baseball and softball.

JV first, varsity teams fifth at Paris meet

PARIS — Three Sulphur Springs teams competed Thursday at the Wildcat Relays with the junior varsity team taking first while the boys and girls varsity squads both took fifth place finishes.
“It was a very competitive meet with a lot of top notch competition.I was proud of how our girls competed,” said Matt Young, Sulphur Springs girls track coach. “It was another step in the right direction as we prepare for district.”

Wildcats, Lady Cats in soccer playoffs Friday

The final playoff push is over, now it is time for the postseason action which will end with a state champion.

Sulphur Bluff edges North Hopkins, 3-2

SULPHUR BLUFF — Clay Mitchell doubled home the tying runs and Dakota Emerson knocked in the winning run as Sulphur Bluff rallied in the bottom of the sixth to score a 3-2 comeback win over North Hopkins in Friday baseball action.
Collin Williams went 2 for 3 at the dish, doubling in the fourth inning and also knocking a single.
Justin Goldsmith had a solid game on the mound, striking out eight batters and allowing one earned run on two hits over 5 1/3 innings. Blake Brown came in for relief and threw two innings of scoreless ball to get the win for the Bears.
For North Hopkins, Blake Adams went a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate. Adams had a double and two singles.
Panther pitcher Dakota Jones struck out 14 batters during five innings. For the game, the North Hopkins pitching allowed three runs from six hits and one walk over six innings.
The win moves Sulphur Bluff to 3-1 in district action. North Hopkins falls to 2-2 in district play.
