Detroit no-hits N. Hopkins, 12-2

PARIS — Freshman Morgen Miller threw a no-hitter Monday as Detroit staged a late comeback to take a 12-2 win over North Hopkins in a Class 1A bi-district softball game playoff game played at Chisum High School.

Harold McClure fired the second 300 game of his bowling career on April 19 in the Thursday Men’s Commercial league at Classic Lanes.
Competing with the Watkins team on lanes 3-4, the left-hander opened the three-game set with a solid 12 strikes in a row, flushing the pocket on his final ball for his second perfect game. The first, he said afterward, came “quite a while back.”

Cumby falls to McLeod

MOUNT PLEASANT — The Cumby Lady Trojans lost 18-4 Monday in Class 1A bi-district softball playoff competition against McLeod.
The Lady Longhorns broke open the contest with 10 runs in the top of the sixth frame to put the contest on ice.

Wildcats meet Hallsville in playoffs

The Sulphur Springs Wildcats will take on Hallsville in the Class 4A bi-district baseball playoffs.
The teams will play a three-game series.

Nacogdoches sweeps Lady Cats

LONGVIEW — After falling Friday night to Nacogdoches in the opening game of the 2012 state playoffs, the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats were looking for a double-header sweep Saturday in Longview to advance past the first round best-of-three series.
