Wildcats swept in bi-district playoffs

HALLSVILLE — These Bobcats had brooms to go with their booming bats.
Sulphur Springs fell 10-1 here Friday as Hallsville swept the best-of-three Region II, Class 4A bi-district baseball playoff series.

Saltillo girls lose playoff opener

LONGVIEW — Saltillo took an 11-8 loss to Douglass in the first round of the Class 1A area softball playoffs at Lear Park in Longview.
The win was the first game in a best-of-three series. Game 2 is at the same loction at 2 p.m. today. The third game, if needed, will be at the same location, 30 minutes after the end of the second game.
The Lady Lions took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but fell behind 3-2 after two frames. Saltillo went up 8-6 in the fourth inning.

Bobcats down the Wildcats, 10-3

Hallsville put on a long ball barrage hammering three homers Thursday as they took a 10-3 win over the Wildcats in playoff action at Eagle Stadium.
The win gives the Bobcats a 1-0 series lead in the best-of-three Region II, Class 4A playoffs. Game 2 is set for 7 p.m. Friday in Hallsville. Game 3, if needed, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Canton High School.

Miller Grove edges McLeod, 7-6

MOUNT PLEASANT — The Miller Grove Hornets had to come-from-behind just to qualify for the playoffs.
The magic continued on the baseball diamond Thursday. They staged another rally to record a playoff win.

Wildcats, Bobcats open playoff series

Just like old times, Sulphur Springs is back in the baseball playoffs again.
The Wildcats have made the playoffs eight consecutive years, the last seven seasons under head coach Jerrod Hammack.
