Sulphur Springs moving to 14-4A

Driving to the Longview area for sporting events is an inconvenience, but the last time the Sulphur Springs Wildcats were in that district, the road led all the way to a state championship.
The University Interscholastic League released the new state-wide realignments and districts for the upcoming 2012-14 school years, and Sulphur Springs High School has been realigned into a six-team team district that includes Marshall, Hallsville and Pine Tree from the Longview area along with long-standing rivals Mount Pleasant and Texas High.

9 Wildcats sign letters of intent

A total of nine Sulphur Springs athletes signed national letters of intent to continue their careers on the college level.
Josué Leon inked a letter to be a powerlifter for Louisiana Tech. The remaining eight players signed to play college football after having successful careers for the Wildcats.
Sulphur Springs athletic director Greg Owens welcomed the crowd in the multipurpose classroom transformed into a media center Wednesday. He especially recognized the parents of the athletes taking part in the honor.
