Wildcats, Lady Cats in soccer playoffs Friday

The final playoff push is over, now it is time for the postseason action which will end with a state champion.
The third season, as some coaches’ call it, starts Friday for both Sulphur Springs soccer teams.

Sulphur Bluff edges North Hopkins, 3-2

SULPHUR BLUFF — Clay Mitchell doubled home the tying runs and Dakota Emerson knocked in the winning run as Sulphur Bluff rallied in the bottom of the sixth to score a 3-2 comeback win over North Hopkins in Friday baseball action.
Collin Williams went 2 for 3 at the dish, doubling in the fourth inning and also knocking a single.
Justin Goldsmith had a solid game on the mound, striking out eight batters and allowing one earned run on two hits over 5 1/3 innings. Blake Brown came in for relief and threw two innings of scoreless ball to get the win for the Bears.
For North Hopkins, Blake Adams went a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate. Adams had a double and two singles.
Panther pitcher Dakota Jones struck out 14 batters during five innings. For the game, the North Hopkins pitching allowed three runs from six hits and one walk over six innings.
The win moves Sulphur Bluff to 3-1 in district action. North Hopkins falls to 2-2 in district play.

Sulphur Springs gymnasts win awards

The Movie and Popcorn meet hosted at Sulphur Springs Gymnastics was a huge success with the following results for local participants.
The Level 2 team competed for the first time ever and placed third all-around.

Wildcats rally by The Colony, 8-5

A three-run rally by Sulphur Springs in the fourth inning broke a 5-all tie leading to an 8-5 win by the Wildcats over The Colony in a Tuesday non-district baseball game.
