The win was a big improvement from Tuesday night’s 7-1 loss against Marshall.
The Sulphur Springs Wildcats jumped back into the district baseball race.
The Wildcats took a 12-6 decision at home Thursday against 13-4A foe Pine Tree.
Junior right-hander Colby Suggs got the complete game win on the hill. He pitched seven innings, allowing nine hits, six runs, walking one and striking out six.
“Colby battled, he’d thrown a lot of pitches but I knew he wanted to complete the game,” Jerrod Hammack, Sulphur Springs head baseball coach said. “Colby ended up throwing 118 pitches, we try to keep them under 100. But he will have an extra day off because of the holiday.”
EDGEWOOD — The Como-Pickton Eagle track team traveled to Edgewood for their last pre-district tune-up of the year on Thursday, finishing sixth out of 12 teams with 46 points.
"This was our best meet of the year, by far. All of the nine athletes that made the trip competed very well, with several outstanding performances. The kids have worked hard all spring and its finally beginning to pay off," said C-P Eagle head track coach Greg Roller. “The school would like to extend our condolences to Coach Paul Tullis on the passing of his father.”
