Lady Cats host Kaufman

    The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats will host Kaufman today.The varsity game is set for 4:30 p.m. at the SSHS gym, followed by the JV and ninth grade games.
    “Kaufman (19-4) is good. It seems like it never gets any easier for us but we will play hard and battle come Friday. We have to eliminate our mistakes then we will have a chance. We keep preaching consistency to our kids and that's what we have been working on. We just need to go out there and do it,” said David Carrillo, Lady Cats head volleyball coach.

Wildcats host Sherman in grid opener

    If the second Sulphur Springs Wildcats football game is as exciting as the first one, then fans should come to Gerald Prim Stadium expecting a wild ride.
    Sulphur Springs won 35-34 in Saturday overtime against at Tyler over Robert E. Lee in the Trinity Mother Frances Football Classic. Sherman had a thriller as well, edging Little Elm, 57-56.


Cumby, C-P seeking first grid win

    Perhaps the second week of football play will be kinder to area teams Cumby and Como-Pickton.
    The Eagles were trounced 51-7 by state power Mildred. Cumby lost at home by a 41-13 score to Alba-Golden.


Sulphur Springs tennis team wins opener

    GREENVILLE —Surviving 115-degree court temperatures, the Sulphur Springs varsity tennis team took a 12-7 win over Greenville in toasty Tuesday action.
