SS eighth graders lose three games

    HALLSVILLE — The Sulphur Springs eighth grade football teams lost all three games played on the road Thursday against Hallsville.
    Hallsville won the A team game, 22-6.

    Three weeks into the district race the Wildcats are not only perched in first place, but dominating many of the statistical categories in football action.

    MILLER GROVE — The Cumby Lady Trojans lost 20-25, 11-25, 25-15, 22-25 to Fruitvale for first place in district play.


Notes on Wildcats 38-31 victory

     HALLSVILLE – The Sulphur Springs Wildcats did more than take sole possession of first place in District 14-4A Friday night with a 38-31 victory over Hallsville, they also were the first team in the district to secure a playoff berth.
    The Wildcats improved to 3-0 in district, and with two district games remaining that’s good enough to reserve them a place in the postseason for the sixth consecutive year. The Wildcats will go into the playoffs in the Division II (small school bracket).


Wildcats beat Hallsville, take first place

    HALLSVILLE — It was double the pleasure and the fun as Sulphur Springs Wildcats not only clinched a playoff berth, but set a milestone record.
    Sulphur Springs won 38-31 over a stubborn Hallsville team to go 3-0 and wrap up a playoff berth in 14-4A. The Wildcats lead the district with an unbeaten record, Hallsville falls to 2-1.
