LONGVIEW – The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats missed 19 of their first 20 shots from the field Tuesday night, got down by double digits in the first period, but still managed to make the Pine Tree Lady Pirates sweat out a 50-40 victory.

Sulphur Springs fell behind by 14 points in the first quarter and saw the deficit reach 16 in the second period before they staged a long comeback. The Lady Cats sliced the lead to seven points entering the fourth quarter, and when Frankeisha Hawkins laid in a bucket off a back door assist from Reagan Humphrey just 20 seconds into the fourth quarter, the lead was down to 32-27.

YANTIS —  The Yantis Owls gave an edge-of-your seat performance Friday night as they beat the Rains Wildcats, 51-50.

Buzzer beaters seem to be a theme for the Yantis squad and this time it went in their favor with a trey hit by Ty Davis on an assist from teammate Allen Rose with under 20 seconds on the clock to take the win.
