The Sulphur Springs Gymnastics will be hosting “America the Beautiful” Invitational on Feb. 20-21, but this year there will be a new twist.

Another successful season for the Sulphur Springs Wildcats meant statewide recognition for members of the football team.

The Wildcats went four rounds deep in the playoffs, losing to Denison in the Texas 4A Division II Semifinals.

A total of 12 Wildcats were recognized on the 58th Annual Collin Street Bakery Texas Sports Writers Association All-State football team.

Named to the first team were soon to be Big 12 opponents Bryant Jackson and Kedrick Dial. Jackson made the team as a first team receiver and Dial at defensive end. Jackson will be playing for the Texas Longhorns and Dial for the Bears of Baylor University. Selected for the second team were offensive lineman Beau Carpenter, a signee of Texas Tech and junior kicker Fernando Arellano; University of North Texas signee, offensive lineman Mason Y’Barbo was a third team choice.
