Golf camp underway at SSCC

    The mood was upbeat with excitement in the air as a small group of junior linksters took to the driving range Tuesday to open Sulphur Springs Country Club’s golf camp.
    The camp, the second on the year, had less than 10 in attendance after an earlier camp drew 45 participants. The camp is held 9-11 a.m. through Friday.

DeLeon going to TH; Bailey promoted

    Times are changing for the Lady Cats soccer program.
    Jesus DeLeon is leaving his post as the Lady Cats head soccer coach to accept the girls head soccer coaching job at Texas High in Texarkana.
    Joel Bailey, longtime SSHS assistant coach, has been promoted to head girls coach of the Lady Cats.
    DeLeon said, “It’s a heart-breaking decision. I have coached some of these girls for a long time. It’s a difficult decision to make, but I feel like it is in the best interest of my family.”

Basketball camp set Tuesday at SSHS

    The bulk of the schedule of Sulphur Springs school sponsored camps have been conducted with three sports left this summer.
    Still to come are the boys basketball, tennis and football camps.

Golf camp opens Tuesday at SSCC

    Toby Flippin, Sulphur Springs Country Club head golf professional, announced a second golf camp for youngsters.
    A summer junior golf camp was held in mid-June drawing more than 40 boys and girls participants.

    The schedule has been released for upcoming Dixie baseball state tournaments.
