The Lady Cat varsity, 6-1 for the year, play Mineola at 11:30 a.m. today as they begin play in the Edgewood Tournament.

SIMMS — The North Hopkins Lady Panthers dropped a 36-33 heartbreaker at James Bowie to open District 16A action Tuesday night. The Lady Panthers fell behind by as much as 15 points early in the second quarter but fought back to cut the Lady Pirate lead to 19-12 at intermission.
Sulphur Springs had one more scoring run left - and they needed it - edging John Tyler, 61-55 here Tuesday in thrilling non-district girls basketball at the SSHS gym.
The Lady Cats (now 6-1) scored 40 of their 61 points in the final half, 20 in each quarter. The Lady Lions were held to 25 points in the final two stanzas.
PRINCETON — Isaiah Lacy scored 23 points and Jaylon Dugan added 18 as the Sulphur Springs Wildcats won 71-66 over the Panthers in overtime action here Tuesday night.
Sulphur Springs had 10 3-pointers in the key road win as they advanced their record to 2-4 for the year.
