SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Prosecutors say a former teacher's aide at Brackenridge High School is going to prison for 10 years in the molestation of a 15-year-old boy with cerebral palsy.

Twenty-six-year-old Bret Jernigan had pleaded no contest last week to a charge of indecency with a child by contact. He sought deferred adjudication, but state District Judge Juanita Vasquez-Gardner sentenced him Tuesday to the maximum allowed under the plea deal, Assistant District Attorney Adrianna Biggs said.

Prosecutors alleged that Jernigan molested the boy during working hours at the school, where Jernigan was assigned to help children with disabilities.

The San Antonio Express-News reported in its online edition Tuesday that Jernigan has surrendered his Texas educator's certificate.
