Prosecutors in McAllen on Wednesday announced the penalty for 33-year-old Jose Santos Gomez-Vega of Altamirano, Guerrero, Mexico. The case involved homes near Alton and La Blanca.
Gomez-Vega was arrested in October 2010. He pleaded guilty to harboring illegal immigrants and to re-entering the U.S. after being deported.
A federal judge in McAllen on Tuesday sentenced Gomez-Vega to 92 months in prison.
He was sent to prison in 2008 for conspiracy to transport an unlawful immigrant. Gomez-Vega was on supervised release when the stash houses were discovered, so he must serve five months in that case, running concurrently with the new prison sentence.
