Joe L. Wright
Funeral services for Joe L. Wright, 80, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, in Morning Chapel Baptist Churchwith the Rev. Troy Young officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery with Archie Lindley, Paul Lindley, Fred Lindley, Wayne Moore, Ken Taylor and Clyde Alexander serving as pallbearers.
No formal visitation will be held.
Mr. Wright died Saturday, Dec. 6, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.
Joe L. Wright was born in Sulphur Springs, Oct. 7, 1928, the son of Orange and Ada Young Wright. They preceded him in death.
He married Zelmarie Clayton in Sulphur Springs on July 8, 1950. She preceded him in death on Nov. 18, 1989.
Mr. Wright served in the United States Air Force for 8 years; in honor of his service, the Hopkins County Military Coalition will conduct military burial rites.
After returning to Sulphur Springs, he worked for Ardis Motor Company as a mechanic. Later, he worked for Rockwell International until his health failed.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Ada Wright and Quentin Lipscomb of Sulphur Springs; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny Joe and Margaret Sims of Sulphur Springs; two grandchildren, Kemia and Kennion Duffey; two great-grandchildren, Brianna Duffey and Tristyn Gregory; and three sisters, Iola Lindley, Maudell Jones and husband Horace, all of Sulphur Springs, and Inola Mouzon of Huntsville, Ala.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Willie Marie Wright; 4 sisters; and 6 brothers.
