Funeral services for Lawrence Earl Arnold, 87, of Quitman will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at Lake Fork Baptist Church with the Rev. Arlis Banks officiating.

Burial will be in Clover Hill Cemetery in Quitman with Don Petty, Dwain Petty, Ronnie Arnold, Eddie Arnold, Cody Arnold and Wade Arnold serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at Lowe Funeral Home in Quitman.

Mr. Arnold passed away Dec. 16, 2009, in Tyler.

He was born July 29, 1922, in Dallas, the son of Myrl and Lawrence Earl Arnold Sr.

Mr. Arnold was a route salesman, living in Quitman for 40 years after moving from Dallas. He was in the U.S. Navy for five years, serving as a coxswain during World War II. He was a member of Lake Fork Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Lou Arnold of Quitman; four sons, Lawrence Earl Arnold III of Duncanville, Nicholas Eugene Arnold of Dallas, Edmond Thomas Arnold of Pickton and Ronald Wayne Arnold of Como; one daughter, Donald Lou Petty of Plano; two brothers, Thomas Arnold of Dolores, Colo., and Kenneth Arnold of Dallas; one sister, Carolyn Saucier of Garland; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepmother, Billie Arnold; and one sister, Norma Gerst.
