Funeral services for Laura Gibson, 88, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Lewis officiating.

Interment will follow in Emblem Cemetery with William Gibson, Kevin Gibson, Phillip Gibson, Jeremy Gibson, Kade Gibson and Andrew Gibson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Gibson, David McDonald, Kent Pate and Scotty Reed.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at West Oaks Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gibson passed away Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at Rock Creek Health and Rehab.

Mrs. Gibson was born on Oct. 31, 1921, in Hopkins County the daughter of John and Daisy (Vandergriff) Gibson Sr.

She married Eugene R. Gibson on Nov. 26, 1942, in Sulphur Springs. He preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 2002.

Mrs. Gibson was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, where she worked in the nursery for over 30 years.

Mrs. Gibson is survived by two sons, Johnny Gibson and wife Shonda, and James Gibson, all of Sulphur Springs; daughters-in-law Patsy Gibson of Sulphur Springs and Patti Gibson of Forney; one brother, John Orr Jr. and wife, Naomi of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren William and Diana Gibson, Kenny Gibson, Jeremy and Tara Gibson, Phillip and Beverly Gibson, Amie and David McDonald, Andrew Gibson, Kevin and Shelby Gibson, Stacy and Kent Pate, Darla and Scotty Reed, Kasey Tomasek and Kade Gibson; great-grandchildren Tyler and Josh Gibson, Ryan and Matthew Gibson, Savanah, Avery and Portia Gibson, Brittany Wise, Paris and Brynn McDonald, Shannon and Charlie Willis, Kannon Gibson and Jackson Reed; and one great-great grandchild, Maddie Gibson.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Jackie Joe Gibson, Billy Gene Gibson and Jerry Don Gibson; and three sisters.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 106 Oak Avenue, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482.
