Funeral services for Buford W. Pritchett, 86, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at Tapp Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Nalls officiating.

Burial will follow in Clifton Cemetery with Mike Pritchett, Mark Pritchett, Charles Pritchett, Wade Bryant, Jerry Evans and Shane Looney serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Pritchett died in Greenville on Tuesday, Dec. 2, after a lengthy illness.

Buford W. Pritchett was born in Reilley Springs on March 3, 1922, the son of Fred O’Neal Pritchett and Myrtle Lorene Pritchett. They preceded him in death.

He married Floy Virginia Middleton in Commerce on April 14, 1945. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Pritchett was a member of the Baptist faith. He was a farmer and paint contractor by trade. He served in the United States Army in the cavalry in World War ll. In honor of his service, the Hopkins County Military Coalition will conduct military graveside burial rites.

Surviving family includes one daughter, Mary Sue Handley of Quinlan; two sons, Wayne Edwin Pritchett of Kemp and Ferman Pritchett of Edgewood; eight grandchildren, Charles Bryan Pritchett of Kemp, Dawn Yvette Stewart of Gun Barrel City, Donna Evans of Alvarado, Alisa Bryant of Quinlan, Wade Bryant of Rowlett, Michael Pritchett of Wills Point, Mark Pritchett of Arlington and Rebekah Foster of Edgewood; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, L.J. Pritchett of Irving and Arvelee Pritchett of Greenville.

Mr. Pritchett was also preceded in death by three brothers, Truman Pritchett, William “Dudie” Pritchett and Hubert J. Pritchett.
