Graveside services for Dahma Aliean Crosthwait Terrell, 94, of Plainview will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at Plainview Memorial Park in Plainview. Celebration of life services will follow at First Baptist Church of Plainview Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Fridaqy, Oct. 6, with Dr. Travis Hart officiating.
The family will visit with friends after the services, which are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home in Plainview.
Dahma Terrell died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at her residence.
She was born May 6, 1915, in Avoca to James Griffin and Lula Bell Crosthwait. They preceded her in death.
She married Leland Elton Terrell on March 28, 1934. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1975.
Mrs. Terrell and her husband farmed in the Plainview area for many years. Dahma was a Member of Plainview First Baptist Church, where she served on various church committees. She sang in the Sanctuary Choir for 10 years. She also sang with the Millennium Singers and was a member of Living Water Emmaus Community. In 1957 she joined the Federated Woman’s Club of Plainview. She served the club in many capacities, including local, district and state boards. She was also a member of Beta Delphin and Woman’s Forum. She was a charter member of the Women’s Division of the Plainview Chamber of Commerce. She was active with Nutrimetics International for 30 years.
Survivors include one son, Donald Lee Terrell and wife Corky of Plainview; two daughters, Monica Birdsong and husband Bill of Sulphur Springs, and Carmyn Walker and husband Sonny of Plainview; nine grandchildren, Rebekah Ryan of Austin, Brian Terrell of Dallas, Brooks Terrell of Plano, Lindsey Birdsong of Tyler, Keith Birdsong of Plano, Brad Birdsong of Lubbock, Kevin Walker of Plainview, Kyle Walker of Possum Kingdom and Trevor Walker of Mansfield; and 16 great-grandchildren
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Imo Seaman; and two brothers, James Bernay Crosthwait and Jerry Crosthwait.
