Funeral services for Florence V. Cotney, 88, of Yantis were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Yantis Baptist Church with the Rev. Shannon Hassell officiating.

Burial followed in Yantis Cemetery with friends of Yantis Baptist Church serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Cotney died Nov. 28, in Tyler.

Florence V. Burchfield was born in Yantis on July 10, 1920, the daughter of William Isaac Burchfield and Mary Cade Burchfield.

She married Zanue G. “Brandy” Cotney on Dec. 17, 1938, in Yantis. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Cotney was employed by the Federated Store in Sulphur Springs for many years and also worked for H.D. Lee, Munves, and Winnsboro Manufacturing. She was a long time member of Yantis Baptist Church.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Lynn Burchfield and wife Missy, Jerry Burchfield and wife Quita, Rickey Burchfield and wife Lisa, all of Yantis, Junell Ross of Cumby, Russell Foster of Bastrop, Gwen Higgins of Quitman, Vondell Williams of Charleston, Ark., Florita Wells of Grand Saline, Winfred Wilson and wife Madelyn of Yantis, Juanita McPherson of Sulphur Springs, Lajuana Gray of Dallas, Beau Burchfield of Sherman, Marcine Gilbert of Lubbock, Kathleen Taylor of Yantis and Olan and Daryl Snyder of Graham.

Mrs. Cotney was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Leonard and William Burchfield, Barney and Tom Burchfield and Frank Willingham; five sisters, Lilly Nolen, Pauline Foster, Opal McKee, Hattie Wilson, Dealie Hilton; and two infant siblings.
