Funeral services for Rose Franklin, 84, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at Cherry Grove Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, with the Rev. Randy Seals and the Rev. H.B. Nash officiating. Interment will follow at North Caney Cemetery with Mrs. Franklin’s grandsons and nephews serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Cherry Grove Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2009, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Rose Franklin passed away at Carriage House Manor on Tuesday afternoon, July 21, 2009.
She was born in Fannin County on Aug. 17, 1924, the daughter of John Henry Harris and Lucinda (Cambell) Harris.
She married Zebia Dee Franklin in Hopkins County on Aug. 14, 1943. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Franklin was a homemaker. She was a member of the Baptist faith and a member of Heroines of Jerico.
Survivors include two sons, J.D. Franklin and wife, Gloria, of Sulphur Springs, and Aubria Franklin and wife Joyce of Menlo Park, Calif.; two daughters, Ella Burns of Greenville, and Ida Beasley and husband Leonard, all of Greenville; seven granddaughters; seven grandsons; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one grandson; one granddaughter; four brothers, Allie Harris, Andy Harris, Roust Harris and Booker Harris; and five sisters, Bennie Harper, Dorothy McGill, Mary Smith, Pearline Brooks and Ruthie Carr.
Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
