A graveside service for Elba Jennings Wilder, 92, of Mount Vernon was held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 6, in Restland Cemetery in Dallas with the Rev. Pepper Puryear officiating.
Mrs. Wilder died July 2, 2009, at Mission Manor Nursing Home.
Elba Jennings Wilder was born June 18, 1917, in Saltillo, the daughter of Pender Jennings and Maggie King Jennings.
She married C.W. Wilder on Dec. 28, 1939. He preceded her in death on April 9, 1961.
Mrs. Wilder lived in Dallas from 1945 to 1999, then returned to East Texas. She was employed by the federal government from 1951 to 1981, working for the Inspector of Naval Materials, Department of Defense and Corps of Engineers, retiring with 30 years of service.
She was also a member of the Saltillo Chapter 173 Order of the Eastern Star for 60 years.
Survivors include two sons, Carl Wayne Wilder and wife, Carol, of Como, and Weyland Jennings Wilder of Cedar Creek; five grandchildren, Bryan Wilder of Austin, Brad and wife Melissa Wilder of Houston, Casey Wilder and Wendy Wilder, both of Sulphur Springs, and Brett and wife Chrystine Wilder, also of Houston; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Wilder was preceded in death by her siblings, George Jennings, Vernie Jennings, P.L. Jennings and Florene Swarts.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, Mount Vernon, Texas.
Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
