Funeral services for Walter S. “Bill” Pennington Jr., 80, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Gandy officiating. 
Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. 
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2009, at West Oaks Funeral Home. 
Mr. Pennington died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Carriage House Manor. 
Mr. Pennington was born in Wood County on March 12, 1929, the son of Walter S. and Eva Lorene Martin Pennington Sr. 
He married Ruby Helen Jones on  May 14, 1960, in Brownwood, TX.  She survives. 
Mr. Pennington was a professional driver for many years. He worked for R. J. McKinney and T. L. James in Houston before moving to Sulphur Springs. He was of the Baptist faith. 
Other survivors include one son, James Pennington of Sulphur Springs; two daughters, Janet Holmes and husband Jimmy of Sulphur Springs, and Cynthia Ann Hodges of Bellville; one sister, May Jean Watts of Mabank; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, John Harris Funderburk Sr.; two brothers, William Valton Pennington and Carroll Dean Pennington; and one sister, Lucille Till. 
Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home.
