Funeral services for Bessie Lee Bryant Mayo, 78, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Tapp Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in Restlawn Cemetery with Ray Wilson, George Walker, Kerry Taylor, Keith Shurtleff, Marlin Jones and Curt Mayo serving as pallbearers. Thad Gregory, Don Petty, Bob Parker and Ward Cooksey will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, May 22, at Tapp Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mayo passed away Thursday evening, May 21, 2009, at Carriage House Manor Nursing Home.
Bessie Lee Bryant was born February 3, 1931, in Hopkins County, the daughter of Vessie L. “Doc” Bryant and Effie Lee Hamby Bryant.
She married George B. Mayo on July 12, 1959, in Hopkins County. Mr. Bryant preceded her in death on July 13, 1976.
Mrs. Mayo was a health care provider, retiring after many years of service with Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. She was a long time member of the South Side Church of Christ.
Surviving family includes her sons, Curtis Mayo and wife Neka, and David Mayo, all of Sulphur Springs; three grandchildren, Cheryl Mayo of Sulphur Springs, and Curt and Beverly Mayo, both of Miller Grove; and four great-grandchildren; Corde, Clancy, Graham and Gabe Mayo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Kenneth Bryant.
