The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Tapp Funeral Home.
Mrs. Perkins passed away April 28, 2009, at Carriage House Manor Nursing Home.
Martha Jo Lary was born Nov. 26, 1926, in Haynesville, La., the daughter of Jesse E. Lary and Elma Calvit Lary.
She married Doyce D. Perkins in Shreveport, La., September 1, 1949. Mr. Perkins preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1996.
Mrs. Perkins was a homemaker. She was a 40-year member of First Presbyterian Church of Sulphur Springs where she served as a deacon, elder and clerk of the session. She was also active in the Women’s Circle, choir and the Fellowship Class. She held an honorary Life Membership in the Presbyterian Women of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. She was also a member of the Women’s Forum, and served for a number of years as a volunteer in the Hopkins County Memorial Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary. Mrs. Perkins was an accountant and bookkeeper for many years for Longhorn and Sulta Manufacturing and for Farm Country.
Surviving family includes her son, Winston Perkins of Sulphur Springs and two sisters, Kathryn O’Bryant of St. Augustine, Florida, and Beth Meriwhether of Grapevine and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Perkins was preceded in death by her parents.
