Funeral services for Heath Haygood, age 29, of Farmers Branch, formerly of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 18, 2009 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery in Winnsboro with Patrolman Kevin Wingfield, Joshua Shufeldt, Sgt. Tanner Crump, Chris Poe, Josh Young and Jordan Willis serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Warren, Coroporal Terry Davis and Sgt. Daniel Wynn. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2009 at West Oaks Funeral Home.
Heath passed away at his residence on April 15, 2009. He was born on October 25, 1979 in Sulphur Springs the son of Raymond L. and Charlotte Vititow Haygood. He married Lisa Warren on March 18, 2008 in Sulphur Springs. She survives.
Heath was a police officer for the City of Cumby for the past 3 years who recently made sergeant. He was Valedictorian of his class at the police academy. He loved being a police officer and adored his wife and children. He was a member of Wesley Methodist Church.
Heath is survived by his parents, wife, Lisa Haygood of Sulphur Springs, son, Dakota Scott Haygood, step-son, Robert Scott Major, daughter, Bethany Lee all of Sulphur Springs, sister Brigette Carpenter and husband John of Sulphur Springs, father and mother-in-law, Lee and Patty Warren, brother-in-law, Lee Warren, sister-in-law, Jennifer Taylor and husband Mark, maternal grandparents, Shirley Williamson, C. F. and Georgia Vititow, paternal grandmother, Bernice Haygood, nieces, Lily and Elle Carpenter and Emma Haygood, & numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by one brother, Brannon Haygood on August 9, 1997, Russ Haygood on June 22, 1975, maternal grandfather, Ed Williamson and paternal grandfather C. M. Haygood.
