Funeral services for Fredrick Michael “Fred” Ford, 50, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Mitchell Chapel Church Of God In Christ with Supt. Nelson Gatlin, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Mel Haven Cemetery with Dewight Gassaway, Charles Perry, Prince Anthony Beachem, Michael Kendrick, Stephen Thompson and Lester Henley serving as pallbearers. Mr. Ford’s nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, April 17, at Tapp Funeral Home.
Mr. Ford died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas.
Fredrick Michael “Fred” Ford was born in Hopkins County on Aug. 3, 1958, the son of Roosevelt Ford and Mary Lois Ross Ford. They preceded him in death.
Mr. Ford was a graduate of Sulphur Springs High School. He was employed by Borden Milk as a machine operator for a time and was also employed by Sand Point Mobile Home Manufacturing, as well other local businesses. He was a member of Mitchell Chapel Church of God in Christ.
Survivors include five sons, Myron Mosley, Fredrick O’Neal Ford, Tranameth Ford, Tearance Ford, and Corey Hall and wife Michelle, all of Sulphur Springs; five sisters, Lonease Williams of Dallas, Mary Taylor Jackson and husband William of Sulphur Springs, Gloria Jean Hemphill and husband George of San Diego, Calif., Brenda Hawell and husband James of Dallas, and Freda Cash of Orlando, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Yvonne Espinoza, Dereck Hatley, Alexis Ford, Trayvon Ford, Makayla Ford, Breanna Ford, Aliecia Ford, Jaques Ford, Jeremiah Mosely and Nasiah Mosely; and one great-grandchild, Mylah.
Mr. Ford was also preceded in death by one sister, Roberta Ford.
Tapp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
