A graveside service for Mary Ann Cocke, age 95, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park, at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2009, with Rev. James Diamond officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
Mary Ann Cocke passed away Thursday morning, March 19, 2009 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Bryan, on May 26, 1913, the daughter of Luke Palermo and Mary (DeLuke) Palermo. She married Alonzo Edwin “Buster” Cocke, in Austin, on June 7, 1933. He preceded her in death in 2005.
Mrs. Cocke was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Austin, Ladies of Charity and Ladies Auxiliary of the Optimist Club. She volunteered two days a week for more than 40 years at the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store of Austin. Upon her retirement, she was honored by the Bishop of the Austin Diocese at his home.
Survivors include: daughter, Patricia Ann Thomas and husband, Dr. Richard of Sulphur Springs; brother, Joe Palermo and his wife, Elizabeth of Bryan and three daughters and their families; grandchildren Lesley and Chris Chambless and their daughters, Danielle and Jennifer, Stacy and Robert Vititow and their sons, Andrew Vititow and Johnathan Vititow. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Memorials may be made to St. Louis Catholic Church, 7601 Burnet Road, Austin, Texas 78757
