Graveside services for Joe Will Orren, 88, were held Wednesday, March 18, at Stouts Creek Cemetery in Saltillo.
Joe passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2009, after a lengthy illness.
He was born on March 11, 1921, in Campbell, to Loyd and Myrtie Wallace Orren.
Joe married Kathryn Avaritte on June 10, 1942, in Franklin County.
His early years were spent as a farmer and rancher in Saltillo. In August 1942, he entered the Army Air Corps, serving until 1945. He moved his family in 1964 to Sulphur Springs, where he was employed by Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation for 19 years as a heavy equipment operator. He also worked part time for E.W. Massey’s Gulf for nearly 20 years, making many friends. Joe was a member the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Kathryn Orren of Sulphur Springs; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathy and Tommy Alexander of Henderson, June Johnston of Emory, and Glenna and Rick Yates of Allen; two sons and daughter-in-law, Joe Orren Jr. and Rhonda Orren of Sulphur Springs, and Milton and Jennifer Orren of Longview; 10 grandchildren, Jace and Emily Orren, Erin Johnston Garcia, Jordan and Jared Ramey, Kristy Alexander Everitt, Todd Alexander, Cark, Evan and Olivia Orren; four great-grandchildren, Collin and Abbey Everitt, Cason Garcia and Madalynn Alexander.
Memorials may be made to Hopkins County Military Coalition.
Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home was in charge of services.
